Anaphoric (Fanfare)

The composition Anaphoric was written for the winner of the 2022 Openbare Nederlandse Fanfarekampioenschappen (ONFK), de Bazuin Augustinusga (conducted by Gerk Huisma). This energetic openings work contains a musical interpretation of the style figure Anaphor, a style figure that consists of repeating words at the beginning of consecutive sentences or phrases. The name is derived from the Greek verb ἀναφέρειν, which literally means "to bring up." It is also a wink to the association for whom this was written, as they are currently the "record holder" in the number of wins at the ONFK.
