DROGEHAM – The Maranathakerk in Drogeham provided a warm and atmospheric setting on Saturday evening for a special Christmas concert by Christian Brass Band Da Capo, together with the Urker Men’s Quartet and the Drogeham Choir. The audience enjoyed an evening filled with music and communal singing.

The brass band performed classical and modern Christmas pieces, the Urker Men’s Quartet moved the audience with their emotional singing, and the Drogeham Choir added stunning vocal contributions. The presence of Mayor Oebele Brouwer of Achtkarspelen and his family made the evening extra special. He was honored with a specially composed piece of music and gave a brief speech about the unifying power of music. The evening concluded with a joint performance of Christmas carols, with everyone joining in to sing.

“A truly special moment last night! During our concert, we had the honor of presenting a unique composition, A Major Gratitude, to Mayor Oebele Brouwer. This beautiful creation by Arend Gerds celebrates his unifying role and warmth as Mayor of Achtkarspelen. With a nod to the musical term major, his impressive impact, and his role as mayor, this piece symbolizes our profound gratitude.”
