Kindred Souls was written for Klaas-Jan van der Veen and Erik Vegter, on the occasion of Klaas-Jan's farewell to the Gereformeerde Brassband Groningen. The work reflects in a lyrical and warm way their bond and kinship as people and as musicians. A musical dialogue which is about solidarity and friendship. The composition was shaped from the chorale “Blaenwern ” at the request of both players.
