Het Geluid van Eemsdelta (Flexible Ensemble)
Ensemble | Grade: 3 | Duration: 9-10 min
The sound of Eemsdelta was written on the occasion of the fusion of the municipalities of Appingedam, Delfzijl and Loppersum into the new municipality of Eemsdelta. This commission was offered to the bands in this new municipality by stichting Via Ivak and was specially written for a project and master class in collaboration with the Noord Nederlands Orkest. The composition contains sounds and interpretations of sounds (translated in composition techniques), which were provided by residents of this new municipality, defined as typically characteristic sounds for the region. Harbour sounds, windmills, sea sounds as well as carillon and bells can be heard and discovered in this composition for variable instrumentation.
